Challenge

The Acer Predator Triton 500 is a powerful laptop. A seriously convincing piece of hardware, the numbers under the hood should sell it by themselves. And in some fields, they do. But in the world of branded content, messaging needs to be blended with more entertaining engagement. Fortunately, Acer gave us the freedom to approach the brief from multiple angles, meaning that while those important specs needed to be present, their actual presentation was very much open to interpretation.

 
 

Solution

Working with Angory Tom, we developed an irreverent, story-led activation using the wider theme of power as the in-road to an entertaining, fictional narrative. Casting Tom as the lone survivor of a zombie apocalypse, surviving day-by-day by continually searching for new sources of power - and nurtured, naturally, by his uncommonly powerful laptop - we made the Triton 500 a character, prop, and fundamental plot-point in a crowd-pleasing piece of horror-comedy. Leaning naturally into Tom’s on-screen persona, the activation entertained his receptive audience, just as it informed them on the detail of Acer’s latest machine, just as it showcased its useful double-purpose as a zombie skull-crushing tool.
